Seeing the Doctor About a Cough

Good morning, Oliver. Take a seat. What seems to be the problem?

I've had a bad cough for about two weeks now. At first I thought it was just a cold.

Tôi bị ho nặng khoảng hai tuần nay rồi. Lúc đầu tôi tưởng chỉ là cảm lạnh.

Priya

I see. Is it worse at any particular time of day?

Tôi hiểu. Có thời điểm nào trong ngày anh ho nặng hơn không?

Oliver

It's worst at night, actually. I keep waking up, so I'm really tired at work.

Thật ra ban đêm là nặng nhất. Tôi cứ tỉnh giấc suốt nên đi làm rất mệt.

Priya

Have you got a temperature, or any pain in your chest?

Anh có sốt hay đau ngực không?

Oliver

No temperature, but my throat is quite sore. I've been taking cough syrup, but it hasn't helped much.

Không sốt, nhưng họng khá đau. Tôi vẫn uống siro ho mà không đỡ mấy.

Priya

Let me listen to your chest. Breathe in deeply, and out. Your lungs sound clear, which is good news.

Oliver

So it's not an infection? I was worried I might need antibiotics.

Vậy là không bị nhiễm trùng ạ? Tôi lo phải uống kháng sinh.

Priya

I don't think you need them. It's probably a virus, and those can take three or four weeks to clear.

Tôi nghĩ anh không cần. Có lẽ là do virus, mà loại này có thể mất ba bốn tuần mới khỏi.

Priya

Drink plenty of warm water, try honey and lemon, and use an extra pillow at night.

Anh uống nhiều nước ấm, thử mật ong chanh, và kê thêm gối khi ngủ.

Oliver

OK. Should I take some time off work?

Priya

Only if you feel very tired. But if it's not better in two weeks, come back and see me.
